5 Insider Tips To Help You Enjoy Your Cabo Vacation

These Cabo hacks will help you maximize your time and minimize your stress.

While visiting an unfamiliar paradise location such as Cabo can be exhilarating, you may feel like a fish out of water if you’re not well prepared. With that in mind, here are some insider tips that will help you enjoy your Cabo vacation to the fullest.

1. Avoid Crowds
If, much like myself, you'll do anything possible to avoid large crowds, May and June are the perfect months to travel to Cabo. Spring breakers have gone back to their dorms after getting their annual debauchery fix out of their systems, so restaurants, shops and outdoor adventure places are available to give you more personalized attention. You’ll be able to hop from restaurants to bars around the marina without having to elbow anyone out of your way; except when a cruise ship comes in.

2. Plan Ahead
Cabo is a diverse area with countless sights and activities, so it's a good idea to plan ahead and avoid being stuck trying to figure out what to do when you're there. Research the web, talk to friends, or contact your travel club agent and become familiar with the plethora of cool things to do when visiting Cabo

3. Contact Your Bank
If you're planning on using your credit card in Mexico, let your bank know. Take it from me - I failed to notify my bank that I'd be out of the country and my card was declined when I tried paying for my rental car. On top of that, my phone wasn’t working so I had to make an international phone call to my bank from the car rental place just to sort it all out. Good times.

4. Car Rental
Speaking of car rentals, you might be asking yourself if that is a necessary expense. Well, if you are staying for over a week, it may be. There is so much to do and see in Cabo, and you don’t want to blow all your hard earned money on taxis. With a rental car you can be on Medano beach in the morning, the marina in the afternoon, and head to San Jose del Cabo for dinner.

5. Water Taxis
Take a water taxi out to The Arch or Lover's Beach from any spot along Medano beach or the marina. You can flag any of them down and catch a tour (about $10 a person) or get dropped off at Lover's Beach if you want to stay a little longer. Bring food, drinks and sun block and make it a beach day! The water temperature will be in the low 70’s, and the springtime weather is comfortable, with temperatures rarely cresting 85 degrees Fahrenheit. You can arrange for a water taxi to come pick you up at a time of your choosing.
